While senior Jackson Gilliam plays the role of Ken from the Barbie movie, La Sertoma boys dramatically light their flashlights during Panther Prowl at Dad’s Stadium Sept. 25.

Students and teachers participated in Panther Prowl, an event filled with skits and traditions, highlighting various clubs and teams, at Dad’s Stadium, Sept. 26.

The night kicked off with the National Anthem sung by senior, Reece Lane, followed by Alma Mater by the Pawcapella.

“The best thing about Panther Prowl is the fact that everyone comes together, creates these skits, and promotes school spirit. It’s a super fun way to join Plant students together, and I love when the night concludes with the PHS sign being light up,” Ava Miller said.

After the shouts performed by the football team and the beats heard by the  Drumline, the varsity and junior varsity cheer teams performed various stunts and tricks throughout their Barbie and spy routines. The Danceros and the Step Team participated as well.

“I was sad that this was my last Panther Prowl,” senior Grace Hogan said. “I always enjoy watching the teacher skit and boys service clubs do their dances. I love getting ready and performing with my friends also.”

A group of faculty members presented a dance to the crowd as well, performing a skit and dance to “I Just Wanna Ride,” leaving the crowd jaw-dropped.

Each service club, including Anchor, Kiwi, La Sertoa, Zeta, Zeta, Key and Sertoma, also danced to a mashup of songs while dressed in gear to match the theme

After the last of the service club dances, the winning dance was announced. La Sertoma took home the win and celebrated with the other clubs gathered on the football field.

“It felt pretty fantastic to win,” senior La Sertoma member Jackson Gilliam said. “La Sertoma came out and matched many trends to keep the audience engaged.”

After the dancing, students went to the parking lot to watch the traditional ceremony of lighting the “PHS” letters made of shirts. Executive Board members ignited the letters, and the drumline filled the atmosphere with loud beats as students surrounded the frame.

“The dances were amusing and entertaining,” senior Charlotte Witherspoon said. “The fire was really cool, and it was really exciting to be a part of something like that.”
