A review of Red (Taylor’s Version)

On Nov. 12 Taylor Swift re-released her Red album: Red (Taylor’s Version.) Red (Taylor’s Version) has 30 tracks on it.

Taylor Swift just released her version of the 2012 album, “Red.” After loads of drama on who owned the hit album, Red ended up getting sold to someone else, which meant Taylor was not getting the proper recognition or income from an album she created herself. This prompted the Grammy-winning artist to create an updated version of the album that she has ownership over. The album, which has a total of 31 songs, has 2 hours and 11 minutes of harmonic tunes.

Starting off, the album opens with “State of Grace,” a song that emphasizes that certain people can come into your life when you least expect it. Taylor sings, “And I never saw you coming, and I’ll never be the same.” This is the perfect song for easy listening. It is calm, not too fast, and there is even an acoustic version of the song toward the end of the album.

Throughout the entire album, Taylor displays loads of different emotions. Some happy, some sad, and some a mix of both. From a lifetime “Swiftie,” here is the ranking of my top five favorite songs from the album.

In fifth place is “Starlight,” track fifteen. This song is extremely upbeat and happy. The lyrics read, “Oh my, what a marvelous tune, it was the best night, never would forget how we moved.” These lyrics refer to a fun night and party. It is a great song to listen to when happy and excited about something.

In fourth place is “Red,” track two. Red exhibits what it is like to love someone. Taylor sings, “But loving him was red, oh, red.” She closes the song by singing, “Loving him was like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street.” One reason I love this song is because it starts slow, and then the chorus picks up speed. The structure of the song leads to a strong and powerful chorus.

In third place, is “We are never getting back together.” The song is about an ex-boyfriend who is continuously trying to get back together with Taylor. Throughout the song, Taylor expresses that she does not want this to happen and will not let it happen. She sings, “This time, I’m telling you, I’m telling you, we are never ever getting back together.” The background guitar with a powerful sound fits perfectly with the lyrics.

In second place, is “Everything has changed,” which features Ed Sheeran. This song has a naturally acoustic tone to it, which emphasizes a calm aura. Taylor and Ed’s voices sound so soothing and peaceful together, which is the main reason I love this song.

In first place, is “22,” an upbeat song about a new kind of fun. Taylor sings, “It feels like a perfect night, for breakfast at midnight, to fall in love with strangers.” I love the upbeat and fast rhythm of the song.

Taylor fans were most excited for this release, because of the 10-minute version of her song, “All Too Well.” She also released a short film that went with the 10-minute version of the song.

Along with the entire album, Taylor’s website has released exclusive merchandise to go along with the album. Some of the merchandise items include shirts, hoodies, keychains, phone cases, and more. You can find these merchandise items here.
