Howl O’ Scream Returns

Mia Carper

This captures the effect of howl o’scream, and what you should expect when you enter the park. The monsters creeping behind you, and the dark scenery gives a scary effect to haunt their guests.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for, Busch Gardens finally opened Howl O’sceam for the public in honor of spooky season. If your interests during this time include being scared by frightening monsters, giving yourself a pep talk before going into the haunted houses, or just sticking to the classics and riding the rides at night, then Howl O’scream is for you.

This nighttime event will occur from September 9th- October 31st from 7 a.m-1: a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursdays-Sundays. When the lights dim and you hear spine-chilling sounds from the speakers above, you know your night has begun.

While walking through the park, be on the lookout for the unnerving creatures that lurk through the night and creep up from behind. There is one rule, though; they can’t touch you. They can get close and scare you until you scream at the top of your lungs but can only come at a certain distance. These creatures range from creepy dolls with bats to monsters on stilts.

One of the many things included in howl o’scream is the haunted houses. These contain a horror-induced backstory, with terrifying creatures of all shapes and sizes walking behind you while you are unaware. The categories of the homes range from horror-filled holidays to werewolves lurking in the night. If you dare, be on the lookout for the eyes looking at you in the dark.

If you’re not up for haunted houses, maybe rides are your go-to. Busch Gardens isn’t the same after hours when you want to go on your favorite ride. Walking to your destination, you might have to cross a scare zone. In other words, monsters in this area are waiting for you to come their way so they can get pleasure in hearing you scream. Once you get out of the zone alive, you finally get to the ride. The line you’re waiting in is very similar to staying during the daytime, except for the petrifying audio that warns you there are monsters in your presence. This music plays throughout the park to better intensify the environment and make this not your average amusement park.

Whether you prefer to go with a group or have the courage to go alone, each ticket per night, not including the day ticket if you go to Busch Gardens before the event, is $44.99. But if you have been waiting for this event all year and feel like one visit isn’t enough, the yearly admissions ticket is $139.99. Now let’s say that you feel like going to Busch Gardens, day and night, and don’t want to pay for two different tickets; the day and night ticket is priced at $124.99. And lastly, if you have a big party for the number 15 and over, your access individually will be $39.99. This event is popular among all age groups, who agree on the worth of the ticket price. Memories made will be cherished- from screaming with your loved ones to running away from the trained actors to celebrate this fearful and bone-chilling holiday. Happy Halloween!
