These movies are not in any order.
1. Tommy Boy
Tommy Boy is a comedy movie made in 1995. It is about a college graduate with a low IQ who is forced to take his father’s brake pad company when he dies of a heart attack. As a result, he enlists his bitter best friend to come on a road trip with him to help sell the brake pads to anyone who wants them. He makes many funny mistakes along the way when he tries to get various companies to buy their product.
2. Dumb and Dumber
The movie Dumb and Dumber came out in the mid-90s and is centered around two best friends (Harry and Lloyd) who travel from Providence, Rhode Island, to Aspen, Colorado, to return a briefcase Lloyd saw a woman forget in the airport one day. They soon discover that it is full of money, and they become instantly rich. They end up spending all the money on items like sports cars, fancy hotel rooms, and neon-colored ski gear. A lot of other things happen during their journey, which is why it is on this list.
3. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
This movie, like Dumb and Dumber, has Jim Carrey as one of the main characters. As the title says, he works as a Pet Detective. He is assigned to retrieve the Miami Dolphins’ stolen mascot, Snowflake, the bottlenose dolphin. The are many laughs while he is trying to uncover the truth about where the dolphin is and who stole her in the first place.
4. Superbad
Superbad follows high schoolers as they try to get alcohol for their friend’s party. They go from trying to steal it, then getting it with a faulty fake ID, to eventually stealing from a stranger’s house party. These friends run into many problems, like dealing with the police, getting hit by a car, and losing the money they were going to use to buy the drinks. Throughout the plot, there are many funny moments that are a guaranteed laugh.
5. Grown Ups
Grown Ups follows best friends who were all on the championship-winning basketball team in middle school. They all reunite decades later after their basketball coach dies, and they have to attend the funeral and spread his ashes. He requested that his ashes be scattered at a vacation home they all used to visit. Given that most of them have kids, they make it a big family vacation and show the kids how they used to have fun without technology.
6. Napoleon Dynamite
This movie takes place in the middle of nowhere, Idaho. The main character is Napoleon Dynamite, who is a strange high schooler who has no friends until the new kid Pedro Sanchez moves from Mexico. They both struggle together with their unpopularity. What makes this movie so funny is the spontaneity of the plot. Everything done is so random by oddly fits the personality of these characters.
7. The Hangover
The Hangover is about a group of friends that go to Las Vegas for a Bachelor party but end up being drugged. When they wake up the following day, they can remember anything that happened the night before, and their friend Doug is missing. They have to piece together their wild night to find their friend and get him to his wedding, a day away.
8. Caddyshack
Caddyshack is a comedy classic. It was made in the year 1980 and took place at an exclusive country club with a specific emphasis on golf. The focus is on the caddies and their interactions with the golfers and club members. Rodney Dangerfield’s character is where the majority of the comedy lies. Although he is wealthy, he is not country club material. For example, he blasts music on the golf court while drinking. Because of this behavior, he catches the eye of the club owner, and they end up having a funny rivalry throughout the movie.
9. The Heat
Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy both star in this movie, While this is not a very popular comedy, it must be mentioned because of this hilarious duo. In this movie, Sandra Bullock plays a socially awkward but very professional FBI agent. Melissa McCarthy plays a trashy local police officer. They must work together to catch an elusive drug dealer who has murdered many people. While working together, they must learn each other’s way of solving crimes even though they are polar opposites.
10. Step Brothers
Step Brothers is arguably one of the best movies on this list. It stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. When Ferrell’s mom marries Reilly’s father, they become stepbrothers and are forced to live in the same house together. They start hating each other, but eventually, they realize they are pretty much the same person and become best friends. What makes this movie so funny is how weird they both are. Ferrell’s character is a singer, and Reilly’s character is a drummer. They both bond over karate, shark week, and Chewbacca.
