Football defeats Lakeland

The football team defeated the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at Dad’s Stadium, with a final score of 25-21.
By the time the third quarter began, neither team had scored yet.
“It was really difficult to move the ball or do anything,” the head coach of the varsity football team, Coach Weiner said.
Each team’s defense resulted in a scoreless first half. Eventually, the home team scored three points in the last four minutes of the third quarter, but immediately Lakeland scored two successive touchdowns, putting them in the lead with fourteen points.
“We have a killer instinct in just knowing we can’t give up,” senior Kyle Trina, who plays running back and defense back, said.
As the fourth quarter began, so did the scoring. Wide Receiver Whop Philyor, senior, scored a touchdown putting the team just three points behind Lakeland. Later, with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter Philyor once again scored a touchdown after receiving a 38 yard pass from quarterback Dane Frantzen, senior, making the score 18-14 with Plant in the lead.
Lakeland answered by scoring a touchdown. This once again put Lakeland in the lead with 21-18. With only thirty seconds left in the game, Dane Frantzen, quarterback, scored the final touchdown, putting the home team at 25 and their opponent at 21. They will advance to the Regional Finals.
“We have Thanksgiving Break off, but not from football,” senior Dane Frantzen said.
Plant football’s next game is this upcoming Friday against Viera at Dad’s Stadium.
