Tim Burton directs the remake of Dumbo which features feel-good moments and is family-friendly. The film featured an elephant named Dumbo which used a feather that helped him become courageous throughout the movie.

The original Dumbo film was made in 1941 and still today is admired by many Disney fanatics. Recently Disney released a live-action version of the beloved classic, “Dumbo,” directed by Tim Burton.

The fact that the movie was directed by Tim Burton is very shocking because all the movies such as “Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Alice in Wonderland” he helped create for Disney have been very dark and uncanny.

However, this film certainly gave different vibes than his other films. Dumbo showcased the feelings of hope, bravery, love and sadness. The film also taught an important lesson on how appearance controls society.

Since Dumbo had enormous ears, he was mocked for them. But when he discovered the feather, he gained courage and was able to fly around using the ears that people made fun of.

Once he obtained courage, he was not affected by the people who mocked him, and those people at the circus started to love him once he proved that he was special with flying.

Dumbo’s story can really relate to people today since many students are judged and bullied on their appearance, but he showed them that once you stay true to yourself, others will start to appreciate you for who you are, and if not, then these people should not stop you from being yourself.

The elephant was an emblem for hope throughout the film because he was the main attraction at the circus that the people working there needed to make money or else the circus would not be able to continue to perform due to a shortage of money. His unique talent really did help save the circus.

Another major theme in the film was love, not just about the relationship between Dumbo and his mother, but also the strong relationship he had with two new characters, a boy and girl named Joe and Milly Farrier, who helped train him. Dumbo flew through fire to rescue them which shows how much he cares for his human caretakers.

Animal cruelty took place in the film, but towards the end, the issue was eliminated when all the animals in the circus were released from their cages. It was heartwarming when Dumbo was reunited with his mom that got sold off and went off to live freely in the wild with other elephants.

This film should be put on the must-see list for being family-friendly, containing sweet along with dark moments and having amazing special effects if watched in the 3D version.
