Survive exam season
Guide to making it through finals
The worst time of the year has come, filled with review packets, anxious students and a major time crunch. The only thing that can make it even worse is not knowing how to prepare and over-studying the wrong information. Here are some tips and tricks to do the best you can for exams:
- Manage your time: Though this is a hard concept, studying completely different things each day and not reviewing them a little daily is going to be rough. Try making a schedule of what you want to go over that day, but do not give yourself too much of each subject. Start early so you get everything you need to study done.
- Ask teachers for help: Teachers may be scary at times, but they will always be there to help you go over certain topics you may have trouble with. Set up a time each week before school to ask them questions and have one-on-one time to go over your questions.
- Limit your phone time: Have a certain time where you check your phone, go online or watch TV. Try to only use your phone for an hour each day.
- Don’t over-study or under-study: Study each individual topic evenly, while spending more time on any topic you may have difficulties with.
- Stay healthy: While studying is important, make sure you are staying healthy by exercising and eating healthy. Go out for a run or bike ride and always have a full meal.
- Study groups: Get a few friends or classmates to go over a few chapters of the class each day. You can meet up in a library, a café, or even someone’s house. Each person has different ways of explaining certain topics, which helps you learn in different styles.
AP exams begin May 6 and other courses will have their exams May 28-31.
