Theater kicks off season with meeting for interested students

Coming into the 2019-2020 theater productions, teacher Dan Franke informs the prospective cast members of their roles. Plant theater will be putting on a production of “Secret in the Wings” in the fall.

Theater hosted two days of mandatory informational meetings concerning audition information for this year’s season Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22.

Auditions for the fall show, “The Secret in the Wings,” started Monday, August 26 at 7 p.m. with callbacks the next day at 5 p.m. The cast and crew list will be released Wednesday, August 28.

“It’s a year of growth,” theater director Dan Franke said. “We lost some really potent people from our program, and so replacing them is always tough but we’ve got some superstars that are on their way up so I think it’s going to be a really good year.”

Senior Evelyn Abdoney, who was homeschooled before coming to Plant, said that she was excited about getting to participate in a school musical since she had only ever done theater with outside groups.

“It feels terrifying but it’s also really exciting,” Abdoney said “I definitely am flying blind because I have no idea what kind of people I’m going to be working with. I don’t really know what I’m going to end up with so I’m just like, ‘I’m going do everything I have time for and hope it works out.’
