Athlete of the Week: Arden Friar
Q: How did you get started playing your sport? How long have you been playing?
A: “I first started playing when I was ten because my aunt played in college and I would always play with her as a kid. I really enjoyed it because it was such a fun game and all you need is a ball.
Q: What is your favorite part of the sport?
A: “My favorite aspect of the sport has always been how everyone on the team is basically a family and we all get along. We all know each other super well and have each other’s back and just care for one another in general.”
Q: How has the sport shaped you into who you are today?
A: “The sport shaped me into who I am by teaching me aggression, bravery, and that you can’t do everything by yourself and that you need help. These lessons have helped me in all aspects of my life, not just on the field.”
Q: What is the most important thing you have learned from playing the sport?
A: “One of my favorite memories is the annual Vero Beach tournament where we stay by the ocean and go out to dinners.”
Q: What is one of your favorite memories from playing the sport?
A: “Probably one of the Vero Beach trips with the whole team. Just winning a game makes me and my teammates super happy. It just gets me in a good mood, and that feeling that hard work pays off is really satisfying.”
Q: How far do you want to take the sport?
A: “I hopefully will play throughout high school but will stop before college. I’ve just never really seen myself playing in college but I love the sport so I will definitely play for the next few years.”
Q: Who is your inspiration? Is it a coach, teammate, professional athlete?
A: “My aunt is my biggest inspiration. She inspires me to play harder, she always pushes me to be my best and I love her advice. She also plays soccer, so her tips really help me improve and get better at my game.”
Q: What are you most excited for this season?
A: “I’m most excited for Secret Santa, where we bring in gifts every day for a week for our selected person. It is always so fun to see what one another gets. I’m also excited for this season and all the memories we are going to make.”
