Athlete of the week: Jean Luma

Dribbling the ball sophomore, Jean Luma runs across the court. Luma stated that basketball has taught him time management and has helped him organize his life.

Q: How did you get started playing basketball? How long have you been playing? 

A: Ive been playing since I was in second grade, I was just always playing sports and I just fell in love with basketball. 

Q: Why do you play basketball? 

A: It was the most interesting and I was just better at it then any other sport. 

Q: How has the sport shaped you into who you are today? 

A: Its taught me discipline and I have really good time management because you have to work around all your practice and games.  

Q: Why do you like playing on the Plant team? 

A: The coaching staff is really good, and it just helps me become a better player. 

Q: What’s the hardest thing about playing basketball? 

A: The practice and the busy game schedules.  

Q: What is your favorite part of the sport? 

A: Probably the teammates and how we hype each other up. 

Q: How far do you want to take the sport? 

A: If I get the opportunity to play in college, I’ll take it.  

Q: What is the most important thing you’ve learned? 

A: To never give up.  

Q: What are you most excited for this season? 

A: To building a better bond with my teammates and building the necessary skills for next year.
