Plant welcomes new students
On Tuesday morning, hundreds of freshman passed through the doors of Plant High for the first time with a wide range of expectations. Though some arrived with hesitance and nervousness, others embraced the start of a new experience associated with the responsibility and maturity of high school. Among those new to arrive at Plant was 14-year-old Marissa Massari, who described her experience as, “…at first, really nervous, and I got lost in the fast paced hallways. By third period the surrounding became more familiar and the nerves slowly went away.” Along with such feelings of relief from freshmen were expressions of excitement.. When asked about his experience on the first day, 14-year-old Jordan Figuredo said, “…better than expected. I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.” Others went in that morning with a feeling of escape from their previously constrictive stances. Ben Turner, freshman, described his experience as, “Free. It was pretty much the same feeling as the day went on.” Though some freshmen may at first be met with anxiety at the thought of stepping into the demanding environment of high school, their desire to branch out and discover what the new experience has to offer shows the great potential they have to be successful in their time at Plant and beyond.
