After months of practicing during the pandemic, the football team will take the field Friday, Sept. 11. This game will used as the team’s senior night.

After three months of practicing socially distant the varsity football team will be taking the field Friday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s a great feeling to get back on the field again, however we’ve got a lot of catching up to do after being gone for so long,” senior wide receiver Davis Versaggi said.

It was announced on Sunday Sept. 6 that Friday night’s game will be used as the team’s Senior Night. Senior Night traditions, like each player walking on to the field with their parents, will take place before the game.

“I am excited to celebrate something me and my friends have worked so hard for in our four years at plant,” senior wide receiver Davis Versaggi said.

The team has been practicing since the beginning of June, but due to Coronavirus, there has been certain restrictions put in place. These restrictions have limited the time that players have been able to practice with full contact.

“I think the team has been affected pretty badly with the new protocols,” senior defensive back Matt Rogero. “With these new protocols we are forced to wear masks which makes it harder to breathe especially on a hot day.”

The team has only been practicing in full pads since Monday, Aug. 24.

“I think the team has worked incredibly hard to make the best with what we can currently do at practice,” senior wide receiver Davis Versaggi said.

The varsity football team will be facing Lennard High School

“I think our strengths against Lennard will be our attention to small details, our intense work ethic, and our ability to watch and prepare against their team through film and their playbook.”
