Current seniors look forward to playing sports in college

Next year, Plant will lose three seniors from their athletic program. Angel Gaskin, Jake Fruhmorgen, and Raeder Frantzen will all graduate this school year and go on to play college sports on scholarship. Angel will play volleyball for the University of Maryland, Jake will play football for Clemson, and Raeder will play football for Florida Atlantic University.

Gaskin will play right side hitter in Maryland next year. “I am most excited about making a name for the program when I play there,” Gaskin said.

Fruhmorgen will play offensive line for Clemson. “I am excited for the new atmosphere and getting to see a new part of the world,” Fruhmorgen said.

Raeder Frantzen will play defensive end for Florida Atlantic University. “I am happy that I will be able to continue to play football past high school,” Frantzen said.

While they are excited to leave, they are also fearful for the future. Going to a new school is full of new adventures and unexpected possibilities. Fruhmorgen said he is most scared about the new responsibilities that he will have. “I won’t be home anymore so I will have more responsibilities like doing my own laundry, dishes, and other chores.”

“I will be undersized as a freshman football player especially if I play as a defensive end,” Frantzen said as he is worried about being a freshman again.

“I am most scared to leave my family. I am very close with my mom and dad,” Gaskin said.

For both football players, being a part of Plant Football will help them for next year. “Being a part of Plant Football is great because the coaches are just as good as any college coaches.” said Frantzen. Fruhmorgen added that Plant practices help with both pace and intensity.

“Plant Volleyball gives her more experience. She said that every touch she gets on a ball is helping her to improve and prepare her to play next year at the college level.” said Gaskin.
