Winter formal dinner highlights

Emily Mangione

As Winter Formal is approaching on December 4th, students are looking forward to having an unforgettable night with their friends. Throughout this article you can find helpful suggestions of where to go!

This year has gone by in a blink of an eye! Surprisingly, Winter Formal is only a couple of weeks away, which means it is about time to start preparing. It is a tradition to go get a nice dinner with your date or group before the dance. However, sometimes it can be overwhelming to choose where to make a reservation, because there are so many restaurant options in the Tampa Bay area. Below is a guide to help you enjoy your time at the top dinner locations for this event on Dec. 4th

#1- Ocean Prime

Ocean Prime is a restaurant that conquers every item on the menu. What is convenient about this place is how its menu has something for everyone on it, so nobody is restricted by their diet. It ranges from seafood and sushi to burgers and steak crafted by the executive chef, Jason Mallon. Located next to International Mall, Ocean Prime also has a variety of desserts that are sure to make your mouth water just like their Crème Brulé or the Ten Layer Carrot Cake.

#2- Columbia

Opened in 1905, The Columbia is the largest Spanish restaurant in the world and the oldest restaurant in Florida. While dining inside, customers are greeted with history in the food, building, pictures on the walls, and Flamenco dancers that perform while people are having their meal. Known for its traditional Spanish food, The Columbia is an important piece in Tampa’s history and a definite option for Winter Formal dinner.

 #3- Olivia

Olivia is a new Modern Italian restaurant located in the Tampa Bay area. Even though the restaurant opened in 2019 it already has high reviews online with many 5-star feedbacks. Since it is Italian, most customers show up for its popular pasta and pizza dishes but there are other options like fish and steak. The interior is luxurious, with touches of gold and marble.

 #4- Ulele

Ulele is another restaurant where customers take momentous photos as it overlooks the Hillsborough River. Opened in 2014, and serving native dishes on the menu, Ulele is a well-liked place to eat in the Tampa Bay area. Also, Ulele is owned by the same man that owns The Columbia, Richard Gonzmart. The restaurant celebrates the vibrant fusion of ingredients from Florida waters and land once home to many Native Americans, including the young princess Ulele. All of the food is prepared on a 10′ diameter barbacoa grill on Tampa’s Riverwalk.

#5- American Social

Another place to keep in mind while picking a restaurant is American Social located on Harbor Island, which is another great picture location. Known for its energetic atmosphere, American Social is a popular choice for a bite to eat. This restaurant serves American food, as most could tell from its name, and is worth trying out sometime.

Just remember that all these restaurants are very popular and well known, so people must book their reservation early to get a table. Knowing everyone’s preferences and budget are also important factors in choosing a restaurant. The dinner is just the beginning of a memorable Winter Formal night!
