The 2022 midterm elections are coming up. Scroll to learn more about the political races, specifically the races in Florida.

It is that time of the year again. All things ballots, polls, and voting have arrived. The midterm elections will take place on Nov. 8, 2022. In Florida, there are several crucial races that will determine how the state will operate over the next four years.

The two races that are expected to be discussed in the media the most are the gubernatorial and senate races.

The two nominees for governor are Charlie Crist (D) and Ron DeSantis (R). The two have near opposite opinions on some of the most controversial ideas. As far as abortion and economic issues, the two think differently and disagree.

As far as the senate race, Val Demmings (D) and Marco Rubio (R) are going head-to-head for the position of senator. The two have released campaign commercials that have been broadcast to various Florida news stations. Both candidate’s commercials explain the opponent’s idea and why they believe those ideas are wrong for the state of Florida and America as a whole.

Based on various polls done by news organizations and because of previous elections, many expect that Republicans will take the lead in many of Florida’s races this election. However, many consider Florida a swing state, meaning that the election results are typically a close call. For instance, the 2020 election results showed that 5,297,045 Floridians voted for Joe Biden, while 5,668,731 Floridians voted for Donald Trump.

Florida’s future will be determined in the following weeks election. Until then, anyone over the age of 18 that has registered can visit a local poll and cast their vote.
