Favorite Christmas Songs

Christmas season is finally here! That means Christmas music will be on repeat until Dec. 25. From classics to covers to originals, what Christmas song is your favorite?

With the holidays approaching, Christmas music will be playing in every home, store, and car ride. Some will play old classics, covers by popular artists, or brand-new tracks that have become standard in our holiday playlist. However, everyone has a favorite that replays during this merry time of year.

Junior Hanna Crouse says, “Original songs are my favorite during the holidays. My favorite song is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” by Jackson 5.” Although originals are widely loved by fans of Christmas music, many love covers the most. Songs like “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer”, “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree”, and “Jingle Bells” have been covered by various artists over the years, and everyone seems to have a unique favorite by a different singer.

Sophomore Jordyn Ingram says, “I like classic holiday songs the best. My favorite holiday song would be “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey.” Even though the classics are the top choice, new and current Christmas songs have joined our list of favorites for the holidays. “All I Want for Christmas is You” came out in only 1994 and is arguably one of the most popular songs that is played during this time of year. Carey’s famous song is rumored to make her about $2.5 million per year with lifetime earnings of $60 million.

Holiday music is one of the many things that make this time of year so special. No matter what your favorite is, these songs bring us together and let us know that it is the most wonderful time of the year!
