Whether it’s listening to old songs or watching old movies or shows, do something to get in touch with simpler times. It will be therapeutic and make you miss what you don’t have.

Does anybody remember when times were simpler? Life didn’t feel like it was moving at a rapid speed. The world didn’t seem so negative. Now, every news station has shootings, kidnappings, rapes, and killings. It’s the new norm for American society.

If you are yourself, you’re judged. If you aren’t yourself, you’re still judged. People don’t try to be nice to each other; the new theory is, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world.” Manners are no longer in style; people don’t think before flipping a bird at someone while driving or cutting someone in a line.

The music was unmatched. Our parents, grandparents, and their parents got to experience breakthroughs in the music world. They got Elvis, Bob Dylan, Elton John, David Bowie, The Doors, and The Supremes. At the same time, we get li’l everything. Music seemed to have a purpose. It seemed to move people. Now there’s no need for us to move anywhere; everything is given to us. Need clothes, furniture, food, order it.

I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, The Twilight Zone, and The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson were television. I understand that everybody has their own opinion, but there is something about sitting down and watching an old show. The act of watching it instantly has a soothing effect on the mind. It reminds me of someone (who was never actually part of that generation) of another dimension because it was such a long time ago.

Right now, the world appears to be in a rut. Everybody walks around with the same look and says the same thing every day: “I’m tired. I’ll do it tomorrow. It’ll get better.”

Is it because we have complicated our lives to such an extreme degree that we don’t know where to go or what to do next?

There must come a time when we must ask ourselves, “What happened to the world?”
