Super Bowl LVII Halftime Review

Ever since Rihanna ended the Anti era in 2016, fans have been desperate for the pop icon to make a comeback. And now it finally happened after six years of patiently waiting.

Rihanna has had numerous hits in her lifetime but has not released music since 2016 when her album “Anti” came out. She previously turned down the opportunity to perform at the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show to show support for football player and activist Colin Kaepernick.

Since Rihanna ended the Anti era in 2016, fans have been desperate for the pop icon to make a comeback. And now it is happening after six years of patiently waiting. Expectations were sky-high for Rihanna because she’s been so busy in recent years as a beauty/fashion mogul.

Rihanna surprised many fans when opening her show with none other than “Bitch Better Have My Money.” Not only that, but she was standing on a platform 60 feet in the air.

Her set list was unbelievable, from “Where Have You Benn” to “Rude Boy,” but surprisingly, she didn’t touch her last and best album Anti, not even “Needed Me” or the timely SZA duet “Consideration.”

Rihanna’s performance came a year after one of the best-ever halftime shows, a hip-hop extravaganza with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. But Rihanna was miles away from that pass-the-mic team spirit. It was a celebration of pure solo bossiness, a woman on her own, ruling her world as far as the eye can see. She had no surprise guests, just herself and backup dancers.

At the end of “Diamonds,” when she was 60 feet in the air again, Rihanna gazed around the stadium with a look of satisfaction, a conqueror surveying all the fireworks exploding in the sky.

So many surprises appeared during this 13-minute performance. As everyone knows, Rihanna had a baby last year, her nine-month-old son. During her Super Bowl performance, social media went crazy with speculation over whether she might be pregnant again. And sure enough, it was confirmed right after the performance that Rihanna is three months pregnant with her second child.

All in all, Rihanna did not disappoint. And even though we might not be getting any new music any time soon, she showed us who the queen of music is once and for all.
