Volunteering in the community is important to helping people in need and making the city a better place to live. Keep reading to discover different organizations with volunteer opportunities to become a part of.

  1. Feeding Tampa Bay

One of the most popular places to volunteer amongst high school teens is Feeding Tampa Bay. This organization strives to end hunger throughout the city and supplies food across ten counties. While volunteering, the duties of the volunteers are to pack and unpack boxes of food and sort the food ready to serve to families. At the site, wearing comfortable shoes and athletic clothing is recommended since Feeding Tampa Bay is in an outdoor warehouse.

  1. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay provides a wide variety of volunteer duties that promote adoption for the animals in the facility. Volunteers are asked to do some of the tasks: walk the dogs, clean up the cages, handle filing and organizing paperwork, and even work in medical areas to assist vets in animal procedures. Volunteering at the Humane Society is only recommended for animal lovers since volunteers will be spending all their time with different kinds of pets.

  1. Join a service club

Here at Plant, many service clubs are available for students to join and become more involved in the community through outreach programs. During the school year, Plant service clubs put on car washes, organize food drives and runs/walks, and even participate in tutoring sessions for students needing some extra help in their classes.
