Most people recognize the start of fall by the leaves changing color or the air cooling. But for us, autumn is here when Starbucks releases its fall drinks. Starbucks released its fall drinks on August 24, 2023. The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Apple Crisp Macchiato are back in stock, and the new beverages to try are the Iced Apple Crisp Oatmeal Shaken Espresso and the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte.
Since there are many options, it took two dietitians to work on these drinks for you. Senior nutrition editor Maria Laura Haddad Garcia and Pinterest editor Annie Nguyen said what they will be ordering this season and some tips on making the new drinks healthier. Here is what they had to say.
Haddad Garcia gets the pumpkin spice latte. Here are some of her tips to make the seasonal drink a lower-sugar choice. “To make it a bit healthier, I’d skip on the whipped cream; since it has a milk foam, it’ll still have that creamy aspect,” she suggested.” And I would ask for half the pumpkin spice sauce pumps to reduce the added sugar amount.”
Nguyen prefers Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. “Since I don’t like my drinks too sweet, I would pump vanilla syrup instead of two for less added sugar.” These tips are ways to lessen the amount of sugar in each sip while not completely missing out on the pumpkin flavor.
Haddad Garcia is counting on having an Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte. Here is the nutritional breakdown for a small Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte:
. 340 calories
. 13 grams of total fat
. 8 grams of saturated fat
.120 milligrams of sodium
.52 grams of carbohydrates
. 50 grams total sugar
.8 grams protein
If you desire to reduce this drink’s saturated fat and calories, you can swap whole milk for plant-based alternatives like oats, almonds, or soy milk. Overall, all these fall coffee and tea drinks at Starbucks sound delicious, and you can enjoy them in a healthier way.
