The new possible relationship between multi-Grammy winner Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce has taken social media by storm. Swift and Kelce have not confirmed if they are officially dating yet, but football fans Swifties are joining forces and making predictions.
It all started in July when Kelce attended the Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Kelce later explained on his podcast that he was disappointed he could not hand Swift a bracelet he made for her, which had his phone number on it. During the next couple of months, NFL commentators, fans, and teammates were making Swift-related jokes about Kelce and using a lot of Swift lyric references.
Suddenly, on Sept. 24, Swift was spotted attending the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears game, cheering on Kelce from his suite right next to his mom, Donna. Swift’s appearance shocked football fans and Swifties because nobody was expecting their relationship to take off that fast. Once the game was over, Swift and Kelce were seen leaving the game together and riding away in his convertible.
Kelce recalled this interaction and said, “Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up! That was pretty ballsy. I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her, the friends and family. She looked amazing.”
The following week, Swift made another appearance in New York City to support Kelce in his game against the New York Jets. However, Swift did not attend the game alone; she brought her friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively to watch the game alongside her.
Although Swift and Kelce have only had a few encounters with one another, football and music fans have united to see what this results in. This is a relationship nobody saw coming with two people who are both well respected in what they do. All that fans can do is wait and see Swift and Kelce’s next steps, but let’s say they have a huge audience rooting for them.
