Junior Charlotte Cantonis has become a big name in high school golf, having verbally committed to Auburn University for the 2025-2026 school year, she helped take the Plant Girls golf team to the State championship in her sophomore year, which was her first year on the team. Charlotte has been a major player in the golf team going to states this year, finishing one over par at districts and on par at regionals. Even though Charlotte has already made these accomplishments, she still has her senior year left to go out with a bang.
When interviewed, Cantonis was asked, “When did you start playing golf?”
She replied, “I would play a bit of golf when I was little and started taking it more seriously when I was 12, so I have been playing for about five or six years.”
The junior is committed to golf, usually playing six days a week. With all this work she has put in, Charlotte usually shoots in the high 60s or low 70s, depending on the course she plays at.
Charlotte was asked what her favorite part of golf was.
She answered, “My favorite part about golf is the opportunities it gives you, and I just like playing in competitive settings,” says Cantonis.
The last question the junior was asked was, “Who do you like playing with.
Charlotte said, “I like playing with my friends who are good golfers. Sarah Wicks is an example.”
Headed to Auburn in a few years, Charlotte is excited to play at the beautiful golf courses and spend time in the practice facilities. She stated that she can’t wait to have fun on and off the course at college. The girls had an undefeated regular season, won districts for the second year in a row, and came in second at regionals, only losing by six strokes. With the State Championship on Nov. 10, the girls’ golf team hopes to finish the 2023-2024 fall season strong.
