Thanksgiving, a cherished holiday observed on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, is a time-honored tradition that transcends its historical roots to become a celebration of gratitude, family, and community. This annual gathering brings people together, fostering a spirit of appreciation for the blessings in life. The origins of Thanksgiving trace back to the early 17th century when the Pilgrims, seeking religious freedom, sailed across the Atlantic on the Mayflower. In 1620, they landed at Plymouth Rock, where they faced a harsh winter and challenging conditions. With the help of Native Americans, particularly the Wampanoag tribe, the Pilgrims learned essential agricultural skills and celebrated a bountiful harvest in 1621. This feast is often considered the first Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving can be celebrated in many ways like with family and friends. Friendsgiving has become more popular over the years as if celebrates a preview of thanksgiving with your friends.
Over the weekend I celebrated Friendsgiving with my friends so here are a few ideas on what you can bring to your own Friendsgiving!
- Chick-fil-a
Although this platter lands on the more expensive side, chic fa la offers catering that is cheaper than purchasing meals as a whole. Create a platter using varieties of sauces and/or appetizers.
- Starbucks
Again, a little bit more on the expensive side, you can assign one friend to get your friends favorite drinks for everyone at the table. Me personally, this is easy because your just picking drinks up instead of cooking.
- Desserts
I brought this platter to my Friendsgiving, and I got all my items from Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is cheap for good quality products. I got chocolate mint stars, Lacey’s cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, and chocolate sticks. You can get a variety of desserts from anywhere you want. This platter is simple.
- Hot chocolate bar
Gather your ingredients: hot chocolate mix, milk, whipped cream and toppings. Also get separate cups for your friends to enjoy and make their own.
- Pasta
TikTok has many viral recipes that you can try out for Friendsgiving. For example, I made the feta tomato pasta which was super easy and convenient along with being tasty.
