As Plant High School approaches the end of the school year, that means it is time for one thing and one thing only… season reviews. First up is the Plant Varsity Baseball team, with a 13-5 overall record as of April 12. The team will take on teams such as Bloomingdale, Plant City and Durant in the last weeks of April.
Looking at statistics for the team this season, junior, Cash Strayer, holds many of the top positions such as batting average, at a 0.396, as said on the team’s MaxPreps page. Strayer also leads the team in On Base Percentage (OBP) at a 0.524, followed by seniors, Alex Yarich and Rocco Demarinis.
Senior, James Leach, had his opinions on the team’s performance, as a whole, this season.
“We should have won more games, kept our foot on the gas pedal,” Leach said. “But we did well overall I would say.”
They currently have a 2-1 district record for this season, landing them 3rd in Hillsborough County. Their stats also have their state rank centered on number 97 in the entire Sunshine state. Plant Varsity Baseball also holds the 28th spot in Tampa as informed via MaxPreps (last updated April 18).
Junior, Danny Cerelli, has his highlight from the 2023-2025 season.
“My highlight would be the comeback win against Sickles,” Cerelli said. “It was my favorite part of the season for sure. I think next season we can improve with more structure, more repetition to help us improve as a team.”
