With the addition of the civil war in the 1980s, the residents of El Salvador had been left with scars of the future of their nation.

When Nayib Bukele was elected president in 2019, he laid out his plans and strategies in a document called the “Arabian Stallion.” With this document’s help, the government has introduced many social programs such as housing, healthcare, and education. Bukele hopes to create a society of opportunity for young people who are otherwise at risk of joining a gang by investing in the country. Not only does this provide public services for those who need them, but it also reduces violence rates around the country.

Another essential aspect of Bukele’s administration is education. Most of El Salvador’s rural population had no access to public institutions because those areas could not fund them. Bukele’s plans included bringing schools to underfunded areas with limited access to education and improving their conditions and the teachers’ salaries.
