On Sept. 17, a traditional event at Plant High School took place. Panther Prowl is a Plant High tradition where students gather for a night of dancing and skits. The event starts with performances by the varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders and various clubs.
The central theme of the night was the 70s. The challenge was to win the best performance and earn a big silver trophy. Many songs ranged from Michael Jackson to ABBA, with multiple renditions of the YMCA dance.
The central skit was the Teacher-Student dance, where teachers at Plant became students and vice versa, providing plenty of laughs. The event featured dazzling performances from diverse groups, each bringing unique flair and energy to the stage.
The Anchor Club, dressed in ‘Despicable Me’ themed attire, performed a lively dance routine. Senior Bella Johnson, who has been part of Panther Prowl for three years, shared her thoughts on the event.
“I performed for Anchor Club,” Johnson said. “It was very fun, and it was my third year doing it, so it was a bittersweet end for my senior year.”
The winning team was the Zeta Service Club, which delivered a thrilling Michael Jackson performance. Their energy and coordination won them the coveted trophy.
“It felt good winning the competition; we all worked hard together to make it happen. More importantly, I could connect with other members while creating memories with Zeta!” junior Briana Reinoso said. “It was an exciting experience, and it will definitely be a memory I will remember.”
The night concluded with Plant High School’s sign lit up with t-shirts spelling out PHS, illuminating the spirit and unity of the school community.
Panther Prowl 2024 was filled with laughter and memorable performances. This cherished tradition continues to bring the Plant High School community closer together, creating lasting memories for students year after year. As the lights dimmed and the PHS letters glowed, it was clear that Panther Prowl remains a beloved event that fosters school spirit and camaraderie.
