On Thursday, Jan. 9, the Tampa Bay Lightning played the Boston Bruins in the Lightning’s last home game before a three-game road trip. During this away series, the team faced the New Jersey Devils, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and will play the the Boston Bruins as the visiting team.
Leading up to the home game against the Bruins, AdventHealth gave every hockey fan in Amalie Arena a T-shirt. The shirt read “goal-getter” to inspire fans to help their communities.
With the Lightning’s 4-1 win, they handed the Bruins their sixth straight loss. As of the end of Thursday’s game, the Lightning’s record is 22-15, and they hold third place in the Atlantic Division of the National Hockey League, while the Bruins are fourth with a 20-19 record.
The score remained 0-0 in the first period, followed by two Lightning goals in the second period. The Bruins scored at the beginning of the third, narrowing Tampa’s lead. With fewer than five minutes left, the Bolts scored twice, ending with a final score of 4-1.
Following Thursday’s game, the Lightning faced the Devils on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., then the Penguins on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m., and will end with a rematch against the Bruins on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m.
After Tuesday’s game, the Bruins and Lightning will not meet again until March, giving the Bruins about two months before visiting Tampa Bay again. After the March game, both teams will be in unfamiliar territory the next time they face each other.
It was announced on Jan. 8 that the Lightning and Bruins will face off on Feb. 1, 2026, at Raymond James Stadium as part of the Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series. This event will offer more seating for fans of both teams and the unique experience of an outdoor hockey game.
