If you are among the many students here at Plant and want to challenge your brain, Quiz bowl is a student run club that has a weekly meeting every Friday morning before school at 7:45. Quiz bowl has evolved the idea of modern trivia and added a twist by making the questions elaborate and complex but usually can be answered in a very simple way.
Despite being such a beloved club here at Plant, Quizbowl has only been around for two years. Quizbowl was started by Lily Slaughter who is the daughter of Mrs. Toothman, who is an English teacher here at Plant.
Although Quiz bowl is casual, it can get very competitive between some of the teams, but despite all of this, at the end of the day, an important rule of Quiz bowl is that it is all just fun and games.
When Emmy Warren, president of the club, was asked what her favorite part of Quizbowl has been, she said “I have made so many friends through Quizbowl and in my humble opinion, Quizbowl is by far the best club at Plant”.
Although Quizbowl can be intense, the best part isn’t winning its about being able to connect with others. Quizbowl is unique because it connects people that may otherwise have never interacted at school.
Although Emmy is the student president of Quizbowl, another important leader of Quizbowl is the school sponsor, Mrs. Vaughn, who is kind enough to allow the weekly Quizbowl meetings in her room before school.
If you’re interested in challenging yourself in a variety of subjects here at Plant and getting involved in the community then Quizbowl could be the club for you. Room 204 at 7:45 on friday is welcome to anybody who wants to join in on the Quizbowl fun.
