The Plant Panthers came out with a win over rival school, the Robinson Knights, this past week, beating them 78-7.
When Quarterback Aidan Pancholy (12) was asked if he expected to win, he said, “Yes, we are a well-disciplined team, and after our loss last week, I knew we would come out hot.”
The Panthers had lost their game the week before to Gaither, and Pancholy had the feeling that they would come back with a big statement win, with some steam to blow off after that.
Pancholy was asked if he was happy with the win said, “Yes, I was pleased with the results of the game.” The game was a showcase of the entire team, demonstrating what they can do on the field and achieving complete dominance in all phases of the game.
“The practices are intense where both the offense and defense are competing at a high level and pushing each other to our max potential,” said Pancholy. The team had a lot to work on that week leading up to the game, and it showed as a result. Panthers scored a lot of points and allowed few from the Knights.
“This team has a chance to run deep in the playoffs due to our bond and hard work,” Pancholy said. The team has put in a lot of work over the offseason, with the results of the first few games displaying that effort. The team bond at Plant is shown to be strong; the players hang out often and are friends with each other, which is great because a successful team often has a strong foundation.
At the game versus Robinson on Friday, Pancholy threw a touchdown pass to Graham Henderson (11) and some completed passes to help the Panthers win. Pancholy has been working on getting more playtime this year, and by that, he is working extra after practice and showing up early. Pancholy’s commitment to the team is shown in his efforts, and he is one of the most experienced players on Plant’s roster.
Plant looks ahead to win a challenging game against Tampa Bay Tech, with Tech coming off a loss from Armwood. Plant’s schedule is not easy this season; they will have to play at a high level to win games. After the Tampa Bay Tech game, the team will visit Sumner High School, and then Armwood.
With the win over Robinson, Plant’s playoff hopes are high, and Pancholy thinks they have what it takes to go far this season.
