On Oct. 18, 2025, the 14th Annual Pig Jig hosted Megan Moroney, Midland, Jamestown Revival, Matt Nathanson and George Pippen. Each fall, Pig Jig comes back and brings delicious food, live music and a barbecue competition in hopes of benefiting research to cure kidney disease.
Pig Jig started on Nov. 11, 2011, as a “backyard barbecue” to help raise donations for a friend who has a rare kidney disease, FSGS. Since then, Pig Jig has become one of the biggest donors for NephCure, an organization that researches rare kidney diseases. This has made a significant impact on NephCure because of the millions of dollars donated in the past years. Pig Jig has also funded many clinical trials that help save people’s lives.
The Hope Will Foundation hosts Pig Jig every year on the waterfront. The Hope Will Foundation is committed to helping fight against FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. This foundation helps improve treatments and find a cure. It gives back to families who are diagnosed with these diseases. The Hope Will Foundation also tries to have good and strong communities for patients.
This year, Tampa Pig Jig hosted Megan Moroney, a rising country singer. She is known for her fun and girly country songs that many people relate to. Her success stems from the songs “Tennessee Orange,” “No Caller ID,” “I’m Not Pretty,” and many more. She won the CMA New Artist of the Year Award. Her album, Lucky, reached the top 40 on the Billboard 200, and her next album hit the top 10. In 2023, Megan Moroney also won the CMT Music Award for Female Video of the Year for “Tennessee Orange.” At the ACM Awards, she received multiple nominations, one of which was for Female Artist of the Year. At the 2024 Country Breakout Awards, she received the Music Row’s Breakout Artist of the Year. Currently, she is on her headlining “Am I Okay?” tour.
The 2025 Tampa Pig Jig had a sold-out event with 12,000 people who attended. When asked about Pig Jig, a freshman at Plant, Olivia Nalley responded, “It was so much fun, the food was good and watching Megan Moroney was amazing. We were able to get very close to her, so it was super cool. I went to her concert before, but I loved how she played all her most popular songs. I also loved how she played ‘Beautiful Things,’ which is her unreleased song.”
Megan Moroney’s new song comes out on Oct. 22, called Beautiful Things. At Pig Jig, Moroney mentioned how this song was for her newborn niece, but this song also spoke to so many young girls. When asked about Megan Moroney’s new song, Sydney Peper, another freshman at Plant, responded, “I liked the song a lot. I feel like a lot of girls can relate to it and it’s so special how she wrote it for her niece. It was also so cool getting to hear it a week before she released it. Pig Jig is an event that keeps growing, and next year the Zac Brown Band is coming. Make sure to come to next year’s Pig Jig.”
