Runners reflect on Cross Country season
With the end of the junior varsity girls cross country season juniors Erin Seaton and Sarah Seghrouchni reflect on their running season.
What was your favorite part about this season and why?
Erin: My favorite part of the season was our last meet at Al Lopez Park because I got my best time of the season there and I had fun being there with my friends and cheering on my fellow teammates.
Sarah: My favorite part was definitely going to FSU for our invitational meet. It was really fun to be with part of the team and go out to dinner at night and stay in hotel rooms with friends. The meet itself was also a great experience because it’s where states is held.
How has the team changed from last year?
Erin: After last year we lost some talented senior runners but this year we have gained new runners who have helped the team in winning meets, and hopefully States.
Sarah: The team is dominated by juniors and there’s a lot of competition especially in the top seven.
What meets did the team participate in and how did the team place?
Erin: Our most recent meet was the county championship, and our Varsity got second place overall. We also had four girls place in the top 20 of the varsity meet.
Sarah: Plant ranks differently in every meet but for the most part as a team our junior varsity and varsity won a couple meets and got second place in some.
Overall how do you think this season was? And how was it compared to your others?
Erin: This was not my best season, my best season was last year and I let myself get worse between seasons. But I still enjoyed running and it was great training with this team.
Sarah: Overall I think it was a pretty solid season we had people get sick or injured but we overcame everything and tried our best. Compared to the last two years I think we have more girls dedicated to the actual sport of cross country.
