Bennett loves McDonald’s All Day Breakfast

After numerous false Twitter announcements that various chains would offer all day breakfast, including Chik-Fil-a, the king of the chicken biscuit, McDonald’s finally delivered on their promise, offering an all day breakfast menu that featured a few limited items. As a dedicated follower of the joy that McGriddles, pancakes and Egg McMuffin’s provide to my insides, I filled with preteen glee when I saw the menu advertised on my resident location. For me, my local McDonald’s exists independently; I only eat McDonald’s at this one location because it tastes better. So when I heard about the breakfast menu, I immediately began planning my fantastic journey to my own McDonald’s to feast on breakfast- preferably after dark.

So one day, I hopped into my car, picking up my peers to whom I mentor (Shoutout to Joe and Hunter). After a workout, I had to drop off one of them, who happens to live on the same street as my McDonald’s. So full of hope, and groaning from a hungry stomach, we burst through the double doors, buying almost every breakfast menu we could. We came out with a full pancake breakfast platter, multiple hash browns and McMuffin’s of all types. When I sat down, the smell immediately reminded me of countless Saturday breakfast trips with my dad when going to lacrosse tournaments, of summer heat and the strong odor of sunscreen lathered across my entire body.

My first bite of my hash brown sent the luxurious taste of fried potato throughout my entire body, and the warmth of said hash brown made that Tuesday night seem like a Friday night, with sleep and food on the way. And the Egg McMuffin was gone the second I laid my greasy fingers upon the crinkly paper of the breakfast item, gobbling it up in a mere few bites. When I returned home, I sprawled out on my bed, my hearty meal still digesting. Happiness seemed so simple- so loving. I went to sleep, full of hope and excitement.
