Upcoming NBA season will bring many surprises
Starting on October 27, the NBA season will return, prompting many discussions about what will be in store for the next couple of months. The 82 games in the upcoming season will bring along many surprises, not just with who will make the playoffs, but also what the top awards will be won by, as well as who will come out on top, hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the season.
Many storylines appear days before the tip-off to the season, like whether or not LeBron James and Co. will return to another Finals, or how well the Los Angeles Clippers will do with them signing two marquee free agents in Lance Stephenson and Paul Pierce. Regardless of how well each individual team plays out, the season that is only a few days away will bring glee to basketball fans nationwide.
Here are the 2015-16 NBA bold predictions on how the season will play out:
- Erik Spolestra of the Miami Heat will win Coach of the Year after the Heat return to the playoffs with a healthy core of talented individuals and lock up a top four seed.
- The Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets, and Milwaukee Bucks will miss the playoffs after clinching spots in last year’s postseason.
- The Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Indiana Pacers will take their spots.
- Jahlil Okafor will beat out D’Angelo Russell for Rookie of the Year.
- Utah’s Rudy Gobert will beat out San Anotnio’s Kawhi Leonard for Defensive Player of the year.
- Although favorites, the Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Atlanta Hawks will all see early exits in the playoffs.
- Kawhi Leonard, Gordon Hayward, and Mike Conley will all make All-Star appearances for the first time.
- For the second straight year, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden will fight for the MVP title. Kevin Durant will also be added to the mix.
- The top seeds for the playoffs will belong to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.
- This WON’T be Kobe Bryant’s last year in the NBA.
- The Bulls hiring of Fred Hoiberg of Iowa State will be the worst decision since the Indianapolis Colts special teams play. Hoiberg will be fired after 1 lousy year.
- Boston’s Isaiah Thomas will win the 6th man of the year.
- Phil Jackson will try and make this year a successful one for the New York Knicks, but won’t, and they will miss the playoffs.
- Anthony Davis will lead the league in rebounds and blocks.
- Stephen Curry will lead the league in assists.
- James Harden will lead the league in points.
- And will win his first career MVP award.
- This will be Kevin Durant’s last season as a member of Oklahoma City. But don’t worry, the Thunder will sign Chandler Parsons as well as DeMar DeRozan to complement Russell Westbrook.
- The Cleveland Cavaliers will face the Golden State Warriors in a rematch from the 2015 Finals.
- This time, the city of Cleveland will rejoice as LeBron James captures his third NBA Championship when the Cavs beat the Warriors in 7 games.
