Adele stuns with new ballad
Singer/songwriter Adele released her first song in four years on Oct 22, 2015. The soaring ballad Hello reflects on the British singer’s fame and rise to the top in relation to where her ex boyfriend is today.
She stuns vocally, belting out with raw and pure emotion. Her conversational lyrics burst with her honesty, not to the disappointment of her many fans.
She debuted the song with a music video directed by Xavier Dolan, who recently directed the horror film “Mommy”. The video depicts Adele returning to what the audience can assume to be the home she shared with her ex boyfriend and is stitched together with point-of-view scenes depicting the good and bad times of their relationship.
The song and video are the perfect follow-up to her past album 21 which shot her to worldwide success, easily selling out stadiums and earning the top spot on the Billboard charts.
Recalling her rise to the top and current place, Adele sings, “Hello, can you hear me? / I’m California dreaming about who we used to be.”
She also made a statement on her twitter, saying, “My last record was a break-up record, and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record.”
Her last album 21 was filled with lyrics such as “I’m gonna make your head burn.” 21 can be characterized as a fiery response aimed at her former boyfriend.
The new album, titled 25, continues with the tradition of naming her records by her current age.
Furthermore, the video, posted on Youtube, broke the Vevo record for most views in a 24 hour period of time. She beat out Taylor Swift’s video for Bad Blood with 27.7 million views. The video now has more than 90 million views and continues to rise.
Excitement for Adele’s return has skyrocketed, and many are anticipating what comes next from her.
