midterm study spots aid students

  • For a big study group: When you’re studying with a large group of people, it can be hard to find a place that everybody agrees on and with enough space. Most people don’t think of it, but Dunkin’ Donuts can be a great place to go with large groups. It’s not as crowded as other places, so there’s plenty of space to claim and not much noise to distract the people in your group. There are convenient locations on Kennedy and Dale Mabry, with free wifi and lots of coffee.
  • For a small study group: If you only have a couple people you’re studying with, Starbucks is a popular and practical location. Most people will be happy with their drinks and the comfortable atmosphere will allow everybody to focus and get work done. Starbucks offers free wifi at all of its locations and is located many places throughout our area such as on Bay to Bay, Dale Mabry, Howard and Westshore.
  • For a long study session: Study sessions that drag on for hours can be draining but necessary during exams. Finding a place that you’ll be comfortable is important to push through these tough sessions. Panera is a common favorite, because it offers plenty of space to spread out your review guides and it offers great food and coffee to keep you full, caffeinated and focused. Panera also offers free wifi and has locations on Howard and Westshore.
  • For a short study session: Sometimes all you need is a quick meeting to review for an exam, and many places can be good for this. Barnes & Noble on Dale Mabry is a great place for this, because you’ll surrounded by books and resources for further studying you may need. Barnes & Noble also serves Starbucks coffee inside, satisfying most people who require caffeine for even short study sessions.
  • For when you’re alone: Sometimes you just need to be by yourself in order to focus and get done all the reviews that have been filling up your backpack this week. If home is too busy or boring for you to focus, the library can be a great place to go. They have plenty of tables and computers so you can get anything done that you need. The library is also practically silent, ensuring you won’t have anything to distract you.

  • For a study break: Overloading yourself with information and cramming isn’t healthy or effective, so making sure you take time for breaks is important and will even help you perform better on your tests. Find a spot you like such as your room, a park, the mall or your friend’s house and take time to relax between study sessions so you don’t stress yourself out too much.
