Barclay’s Premier League begins
The Barclay’s Premier League, arguably the most famous league of professional soccer in the world, just began a new season. The Premier League is located in England, and is a home to a lot of extremely talented players and some of the most renowned teams in the world.
Teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all located in this league, all of which add their own flare of excitement to the league.
Leicester City, the previous winners of the league, played Hull City, arguably one of the weakest teams and a newly promoted side to the league. To everyone’s surprise, Hull City managed to actually beat the title holders, letting everyone know of what excitement this upcoming year will hold.
When the second round of games picked up, the worse of the teams kept on surprising everyone. Middlesbrough, another newly promoted team, played Stoke City, and took an early lead. Stoke came back late into the game making the game a draw, and an entertaining one.
Watford played Southampton on the opening day, and this game was rather slow. The game ended in a draw, in which Southampton were unlucky to not take the victory.
Manchester City, one of the teams favored to win the league, sealed a lucky victory against Sunderland. The game was decided by an own goal very late into the game, but it was a game Manchester City deserved to win.
As the second day of games picked up, there was a lot to live up to, and these games delivered. The two games of the day were extremely entertaining, and were very well played games.
Manchester United, the title favorites, started off their season very strongly against AFC Bournemouth, beating them 3 to 1. It was a very convincing win, and they deserved everything they got out of the game.
After this game, Arsenal played against Liverpool, which turned out to be the best game of the weekend, maybe even the game of the season. Arsenal started off strong, taking the lead early on. Liverpool did not give up though. They managed an amazing comeback, scoring four in 20 minutes. The game did not end here as there were 30 minutes left, which is enough time for anything to happen. Arsenal managed to score two before the game ended, giving the game an astonishing end, with a score of 4 to 3.
The final game of the opening weekend was Chelsea against West Ham. The game was quite slow, but it was an entertaining one. Chelsea started off strong, and finished strong, beating West Ham.
This opening weekend of the Barclay’s Premier League will not only be stuck in the memory of the fans who experienced it, but will also go down in history for all of the chaos that has occurred.
