Students share rainy day plans
Tropical storm Hermine made its way over Florida recently, leaving Hillsborough County Public Schools to take the day off Sept. 1. The tropical storm was announced a Category 1 Hurricane earlier today, so it has been decided that school will be cancelled on Friday, Sept. 2, as well. Students were asked how they spent their day off and what their initial reaction to having no school was.
“I spent the whole day making jewelry and watching fall movies with friends cause it’s fall! And when I found out I jumped up and down and got three packages of cookies to make for the storm.” –Lillian Goodale, Junior
“Writing a college essay, I knew that my mom would make me write my college essay and started dreading it.” –Grace Owens, Junior
“I was annoyed because now all of my tests are moved to Friday and it wasn’t even raining the first half of the day” –Hannah Diasti, Senior
“I’m trying to catch up on sleep and finish some last minute homework. Initially I was super excited but then I realized that if it lasts longer the days we missed would be added to the end of the year and I would hate that” –Stephen Jenkins

“I’m watching Disney channel shows. I was also the most excited I’ve been in a while when I hear.d” -Rachel Grayson, Junior
“I thought it was awesome to have an extra day of sleeping in, I chilled all day and watched movies with my friends.” –Olivia Schmiedeke, Freshman
“I was super excited at first, but then I realized that I would have so much makeup work. I watched Netflix all day.” –Emma Stephen, sophomore
“I screamed in class because I was so excited and I willingly slept in, did some homework, and stayed in my pajamas all day today to make the best out of my day off. -Genevieve Bain, Junior
