Jameis Winston key to Buccaneers Success
What would be the most helpful to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this upcoming season is spectacular play from Jameis Winston; that is the key. Winston is the the leader of the team. If he has a successful season, the Buccaneers will most likely be in playoff contention.
It may take an MVP season from Winston to get the Buccaneers to be in playoff contention. This is not too much of a stretch, as most second year quarterbacks make huge improvements. Look at these statistics of second year quarterbacks: Russell Wilson in his second season passed for more yards, and cut down his interceptions from his first season.
In year two, Andy Dalton for the Cincinnati Bengals increased his touchdown rate by 7, and added 300 more yards while doing it. If Winston can make the jump in his second year like other second year quarterbacks have, the sky is the only limit for Winston and the Bucs.
Another aspect to consider is the relationship between Winston and wide reciever Mike Evans. Evans had 12 touchdowns in his rookie year, before dropping to three last season with Winston. In the offseason, Winston and Evans practiced together to improve on their chemistry. Should the Buccaneers be able to enjoy a better season from Winston and Evans, then the team will be better.
Winston is also important in another aspect; leadership. After captain Clinton McDonald went down with an injury, it was the rookie Winston who stepped upped and became the leader of the team. This year, Winston is one of five annual captains on the Buccaneers roster, along with Vincent Jackson, Gerald McCoy and Levonte David.
Jameis Winston is crucial for the Buccaneers season to be successful. The Buccaneers season is largely dependent on Winston, as he is clearly bounds and leaps better than any other quarterback on the Buccaneers’ roster.
