Golf wins State Championship
For the first time in 85 years, the Boys Golf team won the state championship. The team shot 606 to guarantee the victory, winning by 18 shots.
One player who helped the team was Jackson Suber, junior. Suber shot -1, leading him to place second in individual play. To prepare for the game, the team played two practices rounds on the course.
“We all got up to Mission Inn two days early and played two practice rounds,” Suber said.
To help the team before the state championship, Coach Tom Feeney made his players relax and maintain a positive attitude.
“Coach Feeney helped us relax and keep a positive attitude,” Suber said.
The team felt that if they played to their potential, that a victory would be in view.
“We all knew we were the most talented team and if we could play to our potential we would win,” Suber said.
To become state champions, the team put in a lot of work.
“We all practice hard during season and off season and play competitively outside of high school tournaments,” Suber said.
