Political Correctness ruins movies
Over time, society has become more politically correct to include all types of people and make them all feel welcomed. This need to be politically correct has started to seep into movies, which is completely unnecessary.
This is shown in multiple cases, such as the new Annie, and recently, the new Power Rangers movie. Many people claim that this is ruining movies, by completely changing the plot for the sole purpose of making people feel more welcomed and accepted. Although people enjoy this though, as it is more diverse and makes minorities feel accepted.
One example of this from a while back was the new Annie movie, released in 2014, where they used a black actor, instead of the red haired girl that everyone remembers. This caused a lot of outrage, and the movie received a 27% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to a a 52% which was had by the 1988 film.
This was also shown in the Ghostbusters movie, released last year, which featured a fully female cast, compared to the completely male cast of the previous films. This was caused by the increasing amounts of feminist movements, and to make women feel more welcomed. The new Ghostbusters film got a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to a 97%, which was gotten by the first film.
In the new Power Rangers movie, released recently, they made the Yellow Ranger lesbian, in support of the LGBT movements. This sparked rage over the internet, as this was not necessary to make the plot.
The need to make people feel more welcomed because of their personal beliefs is not necessary, and is having a negative effect on the movie business.
