Following the release of “Star Wars: Rogue One”, the next film that is due to come out is “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. Recently, Lucasfilm showed a trailer of the film, giving viewers an idea of what the film may have in store for them.

The trailer begins with a shot of a rock, to which a hand is thrown on suddenly. As the camera pans upward, Daisy Ridley’s Rey is shown frantically panting.

Following this is several shots of the Planet Ahch-To, with Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker asking Rey what she sees. She responds with, “Light (With Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia in the back ground), Darkness (With a smashed Kylo Ren helmet), and a balance.”

The trailer then shows Rey training with Skywalker, then while showing clips of members of the Resistance. These clips include John Boyega’s Finn in a healing chamber, along with Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron running through the Resistance Base with BB8 at his side.

After a shot of the Millennium Falcon darting through the sky while avoiding Tie-Fighters, the trailer then cuts back to Rey, wielding her lightsaber, running at an unknown target. Next comes of shot of Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren pointing his lightsaber at another unknown target.

As the trailer comes to an end, there is a shot of Skywalker and R2D2 looking upon a burning building.

Then comes the most interesting line from the trailer, which is when Skywalker states, “It is time for the Jedi, to end.”

When viewing the trailer as whole, it does exactly what Director Rian Johnson wants it to do, which is give nothing away plot-wise, along with misdirecting the fans. There are people that believe that the last line in the trailer comes along very early in the film, to which then Rey convinces Skywalker to train her.

This trailer is also visually pleasing. Shots of Ahch-To, Rey training, the Resistance Base and Kylo Ren’s helmet are all examples of this.
