Eye-catching accessories stand out in New York Fashion Week
It’s the time of the year when all the fashionistas around the world come together as one to spectate glamourous fashion shows featuring top designers in New York City. This runway season, accessories have become essential staples added to many designer’s runway looks.
Silk headscarves and handkerchiefs were showcased in the Kate Spade New York Fashion Show. The headscarves and handkerchiefs came in so many colorful patterns and floral prints.
Headscarves are perfect to wear to cover up that bad hair day. It’s not the first time headscarves and handkerchiefs have been popular. They were worn by famous celebrities in the 1950s-70s. The headscarf was a signature piece to Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly’s style.
The flowers-in-hair look is not only for Coachella; it is now a trending look on the runway. The trend first appeared in the ‘70’s and was worn by hippies. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert is known for incorporating woven flowers in models’ hair for the runway.
Designers paired the flower-hair look with fairytale inspired dresses. The finished touch added to the outfits was bold colored NARS cosmetics eyeshadow. The collection that was featured for having flowers in models’ hair was designed by Rodarte and looked as if it came straight out of “Alice in Wonderland”.
Tropical patterned bucket hats were displayed in the Anna Sui fashion show that took place Sept. 10 in New York City. The bucket hat first made its debut on the catwalk in the 1960’s and are made from denim, canvas and tweed.
Bella Hadid, famous supermodel, sashayed down the catwalk while wearing a metallic floral bucket hat. Recently, Kaia Gerber and Rihanna were seen pulling off this trend. Sui’s collection consisted of gleaming fabrics and floral prints.
Transparent bags made a perfect ensemble to the solid bright colored dresses in Brandon Maxwell’s collection. Inside the bags were bold and bright matching hats. Making a bag see-through is a risky choice because many people might feel vulnerable with their personal belongings on display, although the upside is that they can go with any outfit.
Many of the looks featured from top designers in fashion week had elaborate detailing which made the clothing stand out. The materials used in dresses were lightweight which made them more breathable for the wearer. The future is looking bright and colorful when it comes to fashion for this spring season.
