Plant Boys Basketball started the season 3-0 with their latest win against Steinbrenner on Friday, Dec. 3. The game was at the Plant gymnasium and began at 7 p.m. The Panther’s performance acquired a 25-point lead at the end of the game, with the final score being 72-47.

“It feels great to be 3-0,” Junior Wil Willard said. “Before the season, we weren’t expecting to be 3-0, but we are a totally different team than we were at the start of the season. “Willard achieved 27 points, being successful from midrange and behind the arc, four rebounds, and four steals.

“Our goals this year are to have fun, build close friendships, and win as many games as possible,” Willard said. “We play about 25 games, and our goal is to win more than 17 of them. The team dynamic this year is to be as tough as possible. Even though other teams will be bigger or more athletic, we will be tougher than them.”

The Panthers were tough on both sides against Steinbrenner, with numerous scoring streaks. Their motivation continues to be strong in hopes of giving their seniors the best final year and of keeping their win streak alive.

“My motivation to keep going is the seniors, this is their last year, and we’ve been together for years; we can’t let them without a great year,” Willard said. “Our team is trying to improve most on defense. Our offense will always be good, but our defense is how we win games.”
