Now that Gasparilla is over, you might be wondering what to do with your beads. You can donate them, sell them, etc.

Now that Tampa’s unique holiday has ended, Tampa’s residents may be finding themselves with beads they don’t know what to do with. If you’re anything like my family, you have acquired beads over the years that you store only to add more to the collection the next Gasparilla. Thankfully, here is a list of five things you can do with your beads from Gasparilla.

  1. Sell them

If you have acquired beads over the years, one of the ways to get rid of them is to sell them. First, organize the beads by color, shape, or size and use a strip of paper to hold them together. Once they’re organized, post them on any good website for selling items, such as eBay or the next-door neighbor app. It is best to sell them when they are in demand, like when Mardi Gras is drawing near or when Gasparilla is again around the corner.

  1. Donate them

Another option is to donate the beads to a local art studio that needs them or take them to Fresh Kitchen. This way, you don’t have to worry about finding something to use the beads for and can leave it to the art studio to decide what to do with the beads or let Fresh Kitchen use them for next year.

  1. Make a Gasparilla mosaic

If you would rather be a part of the creative process of what to do with the beads, one option is to make a mosaic. This isn’t a task that is too difficult, and a great place to find inspiration is Pinterest. You could make the mosaic into a Gasparilla theme and use it during the holiday, or a design you enjoy you can use year-round.

  1. Use them for gift wrapping

When wrapping gifts, you don’t only have to use ribbon and paper, but you can also use beads in place of ribbon. This way, you have more of a range of looks you can achieve when wrapping gifts and add a bit of flair to the gift.

  1. Use them as decorations

You can spread out beads around your home in various places or use them for other kinds of decorations. For example, you can use leftover beads to make a wreath for Gasparilla next year or simply throw them in a vase for a place of storage and decoration.
