Lacrosse players prep’ up for season

As conditioning progresses and new members get tapped, lacrosse season takes over as one of the spring sports. Players prepare to rival the toughest teams in the county. A few senior were interviewed about what they were excited for this upcoming season.

Sofia Emond, senior:

1. What are you doing to prepare for this season?

A: We’re practicing 5 times a week including conditioning season and having team meetings to work on team communication.

 

2. What’s your position on the team?

A: I play Mid-Field.*

 

*Mid-Field: Playing both defense and attack.

 

3. What is your best accomplishment on the team?

A: My best accomplishment on the team is being picked to play on the all-star game as a freshman and becoming Tampa Tribune athlete of the week.

 

4. What do you like about the team?

A: I like how close we are and it’s a good atmosphere and everyone is really supportive of each other.

 

5. What inspired you to do lacrosse?

A: When I was in elementary school I worked with a coach from UF because I used to live in Gainesville and it was a good sport for me.

 

6. What is your favorite moment on the team?

A: My favorite moment on the team is when we became a varsity team and won the district championship.

John Barlow, senior:

1. What are you doing to prepare for this season?

A: We’re having practices 6 days a week and we’re trying to get ready for the season.

 

2. What’s your position on the team?

A: Mid-Field.

 

3. What is your best accomplishment on the team?

A: My best accomplishment is making the team.

 

4. What do you like about your team?

A: I like how we’re very good friends and that we get along together.

 

5. What inspired you to do lacrosse?

A: I just thought it was a good sport to stick with.

 

6. What is your favorite moment on the team?

A: My favorite moment was winning districts last year.


The lacrosse team has worked hard to reach farther than how they did in past years. Team members from both girls and boys bond and support each other as they go farther in the games and season. These two seniors have worked their hardest for this seasons and the past seasons coming up as they play in the games and take on some tough opponents.
