On Oct. 24, Plant football won against Sickles 64-0. This was their second-largest margin of victory this season. The largest was vs Robinson with a score of 78-7.
Some key players in the game were Quarterback Dillon Rose-Bailey (12), Wide Receiver Darryon Williams (12) and Receiver/ Kicker Davie Rolle (12).
Quarterback Rose-Bailey had three passing touchdowns, one of which was to Williams, an ATH committed to Florida State University. Williams will also have an opening kickoff return for a touchdown. Rolle had a solid night returning a punt for a touchdown and making four out of four passes.
The game started with Sickles kicking it away, and Williams returned it for an 85-yard kick return touchdown. Rolle will make the pass to put the Plant up 7-0.
DJ Ford (12) then sacked the Quarterback, forcing a Sickles punt on their own 45. Plant marched down the field and capped it off with a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Aidan Pancholy (12). Rolle made the pass and put Plant up 14-0
Mark Del Cukut (12) then sacked Sickles’ Quarterback, putting them on the one-yard line, leading the plants’ defense to force a safety.
Sickles kicked off post safety, and Quarterback Rose-Bailey made quick work of Sickles’ defense, capping the drive off with a 13-yard receiving touchdown from Williams. Rolle makes the PAT, putting the Plant up 23-0.
And if the first quarter couldn’t get any better, Frankie Martinez (11) had a 25-yard pick-six, and Rolle would make up the PAT, putting Plant up 30-0 at the end of the first quarter.
With Plant scoring 30 points in the first quarter, the atmosphere was positive for the players.
The momentum stayed on the Plant side with Rose-Baily leading the offense down the field and scoring on a two-yard pass to Tripp Brown (12) on their first drive of the second quarter.
Plant did not stop putting pressure on Sickle’s, scoring their seventh touchdown of the night, a 15-yard pass from Rose-Baily to Treon Williams (12).
Rolle returns a punt 40 yards for a touchdown, and this will put Plant up 51-0 at halftime.
Down 51-0, Sickles got the ball to start the half, but Plant pinned them down at their own 12, and Sickles fumbled the ball, recovered by Plant. This left the 3rd quarter with the score remaining at 51-0 Plant.
Right as the fourth quarter began, Pancholy threw a passing touchdown to Jackson Conte (10) for his first touchdown of the season. Plant missed the kick for the extra point, making the score 57-0.
Last, Plant scored one more time before the end of the game. The final score was 64-0, and Plant got a solid win on senior night. Rose-Bailey’s thoughts on the games were, “We prepared with high energy in practice. Coaches successfully switched up the practice plan. We knew we could put up a lot of points this game, definitely has something to do with skill, but we put a lot into our practice plan.”
Sophomore Emily Mena thought, “They were amazing on Friday- especially since it was the last home game of the season, it was a great time, I was really feeling the school spirit.”
If Plant wins on Friday, Oct. 31 at Steinbrenner, they can make the playoffs.
