In Tampa, fast food is more than just a quick bite; it’s a part of the food culture that drives tourists and even their own locals to be so in awe of it. Part of what makes the food in Tampa so good is that you can basically find anything that you want, Tampa offers a mix of National favorites and homegrown chains. From burgers all the way to salads, Tampa has plenty of options that stand out.
One of the most popular choices is PDQ, a Tampa-based chain known for its fresh chicken tenders and sandwiches. PDQ started locally and has grown across Florida, but locals still see it as a hometown favorite. According to Restaurant Guru’s 2025 rankings, PDQ’s “Test Kitchen” in Tampa earned a top spot among fast food restaurants, praised for its quality and variety (Restaurant Gurus.com).
“My favorite place to eat is Chipotle,” said Ebba Carling (12). “The bowls there are so good, I would highly recommend getting steak, queso, lettuce and tomatoes.”
For those who are not aware of what type of restaurant Chipotle is, Chipotle is a Mexican American style place that offers tacos, bowls and quesadillas. However, the main thing that makes Chipotle stand out is their customization options. Chipotle has a wide variety of toppings and ingredients that people can choose from to customize their food which has allowed gain recognition with consumers and among other restaurants across the U.S.
However, on the other end of the fast-food spectrum, when asked what her favorite fast place is, Emmy Warren (12) said, “My favorite fast-food spot in Tampa is Chick-fil-a, and it’s literally been my favorite for pretty much forever; when I go there, I get the Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap.”
Chick-fil-A is a national fast-food chain best known for its chicken-focused menu and friendly service. Founded in Atlanta in 1967, the restaurant has grown across the United States and is especially popular in Florida. The menu centers on the Original Chicken Sandwich, made with breaded chicken breast on a buttered bun with pickles, but also includes nuggets, strips and spicy chicken options. Customers can choose from sides like waffle fries, mac and cheese and salads, and the chain also serves breakfast items such as chicken biscuits, hash browns and burritos. For dessert, Chick-fil-A offers milkshakes, cookies and frozen treats. According to Chick-fil-A’s official menu, the chain emphasizes fresh ingredients and family-style meals, making it one of the most popular fast-food choices nationwide (Cfa.com).
Additionally, when Summer Woody (11) was asked what her favorite fast-food place to eat in South Tampa, said, “I think Chick-fil-a is the best, the grilled nuggets there are easily my favorite food.”
Although it may seem like a coincidence that Chick-fil-a seem so popular at Plant, it isn’t. In fact, Chick-fil-a holds the #1 spot in Florida’s top 20 fast food and casual chains. (Q105.com)
