The Taylor Swift documentary series, or docuseries, “The End of an Era” debuted on Disney+ Dec. 12, 2025, with follow-up episodes coming in the following weeks. This series followed Swift’s journey throughout her world-acclaimed Era’s Tour giving a glimpse into the unseen details of practicing, set design and even Swift’s personal life.
However, many may ask, why there would be a docuseries if there were already two movies on the same exact tour? “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour” movie was the first to be released Oct. 13, 2023 according to Disney’s Official Website and “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour | The Final Show” was released alongside the docuseries on Dec. 12, 2025.
What made the series so different from the two movies already released to the point where it would be beneficial for the viewer? Well, Plant has an answer.
“I think the documentary was very inspiring because it showed how real and “human” Taylor Swift is, because it showed the behind the scenes of the tour, whether it included her personal life with Travis Kelce and her family, or her connection with certain tour members,” Annie Rhee (11) said.
Rhee is correct, the other two movies simply showed Swift performing the show, not the personal workings of her life during the show. This makes Swift all the more personable to viewers, displayed a side not often shown.
However, Swift is not without her critics. Even though many enjoyed the show, some had notes on what they wish could have changed.
“I thought it was well done but I wish they would have started filming earlier in the tour to cover more of the behind the scenes rather than just the end and the songwriting of The Tortured Poets Department because it’s my favorite album,” Anna Frick (11) said.
The Tortured Poets Department was Swift’s eleventh studio album containing 31 songs in total, according to NPR.
Regardless of any criticism, constructive or not, Swift remains a popular figure. “I am a huge Swiftie and I think as an entrepreneur as well as an artist she is incredible and is changing the music industry and paving the way for future stars, like Sabrina carpenter, and especially with buying her masters back and encouraging other musicians to fight for their rights I think she is incredible,” Frick said.
Swifties, or fans of Taylor Swifts, are often known for being crazy and non-critical fans of Taylor Swift even earning them an article in the Los Angeles Times.
However, as shown in Frick’s criticism, there can be a balance with enjoying the media, and commenting on how it could have been better.
Ultimately, the six-episode miniseries provided fans with a new perspective on the same concept, Swift’s Era’s tour which grossed over 2 billion dollars according to the New York Times.
These ventures are how Swift manages to maintain a large fanbase and over a well over a billion-dollar net worth (Business Insider).
