After years of waiting, the boxing world will finally get the fight they’ve been wanting. Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquaio will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, May 2.
The two fighters have been negotiating their fight for years. Drama with the fight started In 2009, when ESPN reported Pacquaio signed a contract to fight Mayweather, but he denied the report. Since then, the fighters have gone back and forth on whether or not they would eventually face off against each other. Fans started to worry that the fight would never become a reality, the two agreed to finally fight, on Dec 12, 2014
In one corner we’ll have my pick to win the fight, 38 year old, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. who stands at 5’8” with a 72” reach and has an undefeated 47-0 career record with 26 knockouts. He won multiple boxing championships at all levels including two WBC Welterweight Championships and two Light Middleweight championships. Besides boxing, Mayweather has participated in Dancing With The Stars.
In the other corner, we have the 36-year-old Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio, who is slightly smaller than Mayweather, standing at 5’6” with 67” reach. Pacquaio has a 57-5-2 record with 38 wins by knockout. Pacquaio has two WBO Welterweight Championships along with many other titles in five other weight classes. Pacquaio has also ran in three political races in the Philippines.
When the fight is over I expect Mayweather to be the only one still standing. I’ll tell you what, I think Floyd will end this fight by knocking out Pacquaio within the first five rounds. Floyd’s size advantage and experience with give him the edge over Pacquaio.
The fight will only be watchable over pay-per-view on HBO, but if you don’t want to pay for it I’m sure most sports bars will be showing it.
