Student-submitted works displayed in media center

Student-submitted works from Joie Johnson’s art class are currently on display in the media center. After being voted on by peers and a panel composed of William Renninger, Stacey Rosende and Johnson, the favorites were sent to the Dali Museum for review.

None of the student artwork was chosen for display at the Dali, however the students’ work is being shown in the media center. The focus of the project for the pieces was Surreal Identity, a non-traditional self portrait in which students visually captured their authentic selves. Students in Johnson’s class are also currently working on mosaics pieces with glass.

Johnson said students have been versed in the components of art such as line, form and composition. The culmination of these skills will be shown in their final works as the semester nears an end. For more information on the Dali Museum, visit: thedali.org.
